Delphi Public Library Hosts Upcoming Solar Eclipse Events

The Delphi Public Library is focusing on the upcoming solar eclipse with some of its programming, and an upcoming program may inspire new tastes for attendees.

The Delphi Community Public Library announced that the second Space Saturdays event will take place on March 30 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a focus on teaching the Delphi community about the lunar and solar eclipses they may experience, and with the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, the timing allows for community members to indulge their interests to learn more before the event hits Indiana.

The library is also offering free solar eclipse glasses for the community to utilize during the event. While Carroll County may only see a 99% viewing of the event, it is still considered a partial eclipse, which requires proper eyewear to view.

“Don’t let the solar eclipse catch you unprepared,” the library released. “Grab your solar eclipse glasses now before they’re gone. Protect your eyes and witness the celestial wonder in style. Limited stock available, so hurry in and get yours today.”

Upcoming on April 16 at 4 p.m. at the library is a unique spin on educational programming with the Cicada Crunch event. Community members are welcome to attend and learn more about cicadas as the next brood is on the horizon. For those willing, cicadas will be available to eat at the event, and the event is open to anyone and everyone willing to consume a real bug.

The library released that the cicadas may contain traces of shellfish and crustaceans as a food allergen warning.
