‘Finding Your Irish Roots’ Set for Frankfort Library

D. Andrew Robertson will teach a class entitled Finding Your Irish Roots at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m. in the Lower Level Meeting Room. Using his knowledge from decades of researching his own Irish family, he will offer ideas on how to find your immigrant ancestors. He will talk about how to research them as well as your extended family both in Ireland and online.  He will cover record sources that most researchers overlook and how to find them.  He will also provide tips on how to avoid some of the pitfalls that exist in Irish research.

Robertson is a former Clinton Central history teacher. For the past eight years, he has served as the Director of Clinical Experiences in the School of Education at Indiana University Kokomo. He graduated with a degree in history from Wabash College and has a master’s from IUPUI. He is the author of Out of the Spirit and the Soil, a comprehensive history of Forest Township in Clinton County. He has also worked for County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland assisting with family genealogies and surveying Irish graveyards. He has done extensive research in Ireland and has experience working with the National Library of Ireland, the Irish Family History Centre, the General Register Office of Northern Ireland, and the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland.

The cost of the class is $2, and registration is required. To register, call 765-654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar, or stop by the library.
