The Flora-Monroe Township Public Library is pleased to announce the dedication of its new sculpture, Emergence by Carroll County artist Nicole Ingalls. The sculpture will be dedicated during the library’s 100th Anniversary Celebration on May 5 from 1-3 p.m. Guests can enjoy a live performance from the Carroll Elementary Cougar Chorale, view art pieces by Carroll High School students, and tour the library to see updates and additions completed in the last year!
Artist Nicole Ingalls was selected to design the sculpture through a process facilitated by the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. The artist used found materials and archival photographs to incorporate the town’s history into her artwork. Ingalls says, “Emergence brings together images of Flora from past to present portraying the often fragmented memories of our histories. Utilizing a hand painted woodcut style, the images themselves become condensed and simplified, mirroring our dwindling memories of times forgotten. Wood from the Flora Depot, as well as wood and metal from a local farm, were incorporated for structural support, much like agriculture and businesses over time laid the foundation for Flora.”
All members of the public are invited to attend. The Flora-Monroe Township Public Library is located in the heart of the Flora community at 109 N Center Street. For more information, please contact library’s director Melissa Bishop at (574) 967-3912 or[email protected].
