The Second Annual Women’s Expo recognized four outstanding young women from Clinton County high schools.  The event kicked off with Leslie Goddard and her portrayal of Amelia Earhart at 10 a.m. Karen Land talked about her adventures participating in the Alaskan Iditarod at 1 p.m.  There were over 35 women-owned businesses represented this year. The women’s expo’s final program was at 3 p.m. in the Elizabeth O’Rear Skanta Theatre.  Four Young Women were nominated and chosen to be recognized for their significant contributions to their schools and communities.

Tatum Neal, a student from Clinton Prairie High School, was nominated by Rhonda S. McLaughlin, Director of School Counseling.  In the recommendation letter, Ms. McLaughlin stated “Tatum Neal is a shining example of a student who lives by the mantra “Think positively, work hard, do what’s right… She is one of the brightest and most conscientious students I have worked with over the last fifteen years… She has been working toward attending college to pursue a career in medicine and play college basketball for as long as I have known her… I have no doubt she will be accepted anywhere she wants to attend.”

Skyler Miller, a student at Rossville High School, was nominated by Chad Gehab.  The following are some of Skyler’s accomplishments as told by Mr. Gehab:  “she collected over 500 t-shirts from fellow students and staff earlier this year to send to Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas.  Next, Skyler helped to organize the girls’ basketball team and their families to serve families of addiction in downtown Indianapolis through an organization called Circle City Relief.   Finally, Skyler was chosen to represent Brady’s Hope, an organization that seeks to help teenagers in Carroll County and surrounding communities to avoid drug and alcohol addiction by offering free resources.”

Nina Harshman is a student at Frankfort High School. Nina was nominated by Charity N. Woodard, a Teacher and Science Department Chair.  In Nina’s recommendation letter, Charity Woodard said the following:  “She is an amazing leader and has such kind and compassionate heart.  As the president of our Best Buddies chapter, she brings students with special needs and other students and community members together in wonderful relationships.”

Brianna Davis is a student a Clinton Central High School and was also recognized, but unable to attend the ceremony. Each young woman received a rose, a gift certificate from Arni’s and a certificate congratulating them on their contributions.
