Frankfort Hot Dogs Fall To Clinton Prairie Gophers Under The Lights Saturday Night

The Frankfort Hot Dogs fell to the Clinton Prairie Gophers on Saturday evening following the postponement of the game from Friday due to lightning and a thunderstorm watch, bringing the Hot Dogs to 0-2 to kick off the 2024 football season.

According to Coach James Byers, the Hot Dogs showcased significant improvement over their first loss of the season defensively, but the team still came up slightly short with a final score of six to 32 in favor of the Gophers.

For the Hot Dogs, Lalo Castillo and RJ Cornman led the offense with Castillo garnering 22 carries for 110 years and a touchdown to supplement his four catches for 66 yards, and Cornman followed with three catches for 46 yards that included a diving, one-handed reception. Dennis Barkley concluded the game seven for 12 for 112 passing yards and racked up 14 yards rushing.

On defense, Kefier Dooley and Castillo showcased the week’s improvement with nine tackles each, and Castillo secured two fumbles from the Gophers. Takoda Fischer also caused a fumble and recovered a fumble alongside Keifer and Derron Barkley who each secured fumble recoveries as well.

The Hot Dogs will gear up this week ahead of their travel to Tri-West on Friday, Sept. 6 for another game under the lights beginning at 7 p.m. for kickoff.
