Frankfort Library to Host Program Highlighting Midwest Archives for Family Historians

The Frankfort Community Public Library is inviting the community to explore the rich world of regional history with an upcoming presentation titled “Midwest Archives: Worthy of More than Just a Flyover.”

The program, led by genealogist Amber Oldenburg, will take place April 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the lower level meeting room of the library. The cost to attend is $5, and registration is required.

The session will focus on the vast network of archival resources across the Midwest. Covering 11 states, the region offers a wide range of collections housed in federal, state, local, and university archives—often leaving family historians unsure where to begin.

Oldenburg’s presentation aims to simplify that search by highlighting key repositories and showcasing select records available within each. Attendees will gain insight into how to navigate these resources more effectively, making it easier to trace family histories and uncover meaningful connections.

With a degree in Family History Research from Brigham Young University-Idaho, Oldenburg brings both academic training and practical experience to the program. She currently serves as an online instructor for BYU Pathway and specializes in research across Midwest and Great Lakes states.

The event offers a valuable opportunity for both beginner and experienced genealogists to deepen their understanding of regional archives and discover new tools for their research journey.
