Frankfort Man Arrested On Charges Of 6 Felonies, 1 Misdemeanor

A routine traffic stop on Thursday, March 7 resulted in the arrest of a Frankfort man for six felonies and a misdemeanor.

On Thursday, March 7 just after 12 p.m., officers reported that Frankfort Police Officer Freddy Martinez conducted a routine traffic stop on a 2015 red Dodge Charger for speeding in the area of Kyger Street and Clay Street. According to authorities, a further investigation took place when Clinton County Community Corrections Officer Nick Hillman and his K-9 partner Kyzer conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle with an indication of illicit substances.

Police say that a search was conducted after the initial indication that resulted in a passenger of the vehicle, Todd Eldridge, 27, of Frankfort being found in possession of around one ounce of methamphetamine and one ounce of fentanyl. Authorities stated that Eldridge was also found in possession of cocaine, marijuana and a syringe.

The Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges for dealing in methamphetamine, level 2 felony, dealing in a narcotic drug, level 2 felony, possession of methamphetamine, level 4 felony, possession of a narcotic drug, level 4 felony, possession of cocaine, level 6 felony, unlawful possession of a syringe, level 6 felony, and possession of marijuana, class A misdemeanor.

“This is probably one of the largest seizures of fentanyl that we’ve seen locally,” Frankfort Police Department Chief Scott Shoemaker said. “I applaud the efforts of the men and women of the Frankfort Police Department who, day in and day out, work to rid the streets of harmful, illegal drugs. I have no doubts, that taking this amount of fentanyl off the streets, saved numerous lives in Clinton County.”

The Frankfort Police Department issued a statement of gratitude toward Clinton County Community Corrections and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office Jail Division for their aid in the case.
