The City of Frankfort is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary with a weekend full of free community events from Thursday, July 2, through Sunday, July 5.
The celebration begins on Thursday, July 2, with Thursday Thunder from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Veterans Park, featuring a car show, live music, food vendors, and local vendors. Also opening Thursday is the “Eyes of Freedom” military tribute, which will be on display from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Encompass Event Center in Prairie Creek Park through Sunday, July 5.
On Friday, July 3, the Frankfort Neighborhood Center will host a free screening of “Hamilton” beginning at 7 p.m.
Activities continue on Saturday, July 4, starting with Pilates in the Park at 8:30 a.m. near the TPA Concession Stand. The annual Harvard Terrace neighborhood parade will feature a 9:45 a.m. lineup and a 10 a.m. start, with community members encouraged to decorate bicycles, wagons, strollers, pets, and more in patriotic fashion.
Also on Saturday, the Stars & Stripes Car Show will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at TPA Shelter 4.
The Annual 4th of July Festival at TPA Park begins with an Opening Ceremony and National Anthem at 3 p.m. on the main stage, followed by a bell-ringing ceremony.
Live entertainment on the main stage includes:
- The Jacks – 3:30 to 5 p.m.
- Jessie Brown Duo – 5:30 to 7 p.m.
- Neon 90s Country Rewind – 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Festival-goers can also enjoy family-friendly attractions throughout the day, including The Wonderdog Show, laser tag, human hamster balls, inflatables, a foam party, slip-n-slide, waterslide, face painting, and the evening fireworks show.
The weekend concludes on Sunday, July 5, with the final day of the “Eyes of Freedom” military tribute, open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Encompass Event Center in Prairie Creek Park.
All events are free and open to the public.
