Goodwin Funeral Home held its first Goodwin Pumpkin Giveaway Saturday morning. And, from all indications, it appears as though this will become an annual event.

“I do think we’re going to keep doing it,” said Goodwin Funeral Home owner Bill Miller. “The public has been very receptive. It’s fun to see the kids come and get to pick out a pumpkin. When you’re looking at 300 or 400 pumpkins, they don’t know what to do. They’ve never seen that many pumpkins.”

Miller said the idea for this event came from one of his staffers, Josh Lee.

“We talked about it in a few different staff meetings,” said Miller. “We got all of our pumpkins from Stan Pelling out at Boyleston and Bob Mohler brought in his old Ford tractor. All of our staff pitched in.”

Miller added if there were any leftover pumpkins, they would probably be donated to the nursing home facilities, Parkview Home or the Fire Department to help “brighten up their day.”
