Huge Power Outage Hits Frankfort and Surrounding Areas

Much of Frankfort and surrounding areas experienced a power outage that lasted anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours Monday afternoon. Other area outages included Kirklin, Mulberry, Scircleville and an area between Frankfort and Lebanon.

Around 3 p.m., residents experienced flickering and then outage of power.  Kaspar Media has learned that apparently Duke Energy was having issues which caused Frankfort City Light and Power to not have energy from Duke Energy, according to United Service Board General Manager Todd Corrie.

Power was restored to Frankfort’s east side in the Frankfort High School area about 4:25 p.m. At 4:41 p.m., Clinton County Central Dispatch issued a statement stating that Frankfort City Light and Power was advising that all customer’s power should be restored from the previous outage.

Shine 99 and WILO AM 1570 remained on the air throughout the period on generator backup power. WILO FM 96.9 regained power at about 4:30 p.m.
