IU Health Frankfort Hospital Parking Lot Now Open

The parking lot in front of IU Health Frankfort Hospital is now open for business. With easy access from Jackson Street, the new parking lot features a place to drop off patients and plenty of spaces to park.

The metal fencing has been removed. The orange barricades are will block the temporary drive and help outline patient drop off areas. The flags will be moved to mark the new entrance off Jackson Street. Patients will have a temporary drop off and entry point to the hospital as some work continues.

Access to the front doors will include a temporary drop off and entry point as landscaping and sidewalk work continue along the front of the hospital.

An on-site helipad has been incorporated on the southwest corner of the parking lot.  This is a vast improvement from what we had in the past.  Patients will no longer need to be shuttled to the helicopter via an ambulance.  An on-site helipad improves safety by decreasing the number of handoffs and by decreasing the transport time to the patient’s destination.

In the coming weeks, the temporary road in front of the hospital will be removed and work will begin on our visitor garden and walking trail. Encompass Credit Union made a generous donation to help us build a healing garden. A place of refuge and healing for patients, visitors and families.

NHK Seating made a donation to help us build a walking trail which will go around the entire parking lot and will have lights, trees and benches. It will be a great space to get in some steps.
