New Main Street Express Will Roll Year-Round

The Main Street Express has been a delightful sight every Christmas Season.  The Camp Cullom wagon each year was transported to Frankfort.  Volunteers sided, decorated and transformed the wagon into a rolling Santa Express that looped from the Downtown Frankfort Gazebo to the TPA park.

Thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Clinton County Community Foundation, Frankfort Main Street will now have a brand new custom heated/Air-conditioned wagon that will carry 15 to 25 people in comfort.

The new trailer from TC Trailer Sales is 24 feet long, 7 feet wide and sports 7 windows on each side.  According to Kim Stevens, Main Street Director, the Main Street Express will be able to now be used year-round. Joe Palmer, Main Street President, said this is a project that will help not only with the Santa Express schedule but can even be used to transport Hot Dog Festival traffic to and from off-site locations to help with traffic downtown.  Frankfort Main Street is even looking into the possibility of loaning the unit out to other area festivals from time to time.

The funding for the air conditioned/heated shuttle was made possible by a $15,000 grant from the Clinton County Community Foundation.

During the Christmas season, Button Dodge in Kokomo usually provided the pick up truck that pulled the old unit which will be retired from Main Street use, but still utilized by Hoppy at its year-round home at Camp Cullom.

Erick Dircks produced several videos featuring the Main Street Express.  Now the new Main Street Express will be active year-round.
