Publishing Your Family History Coming to Library

Are you ready to share your family’s history with the world?  Do you want a way to share a collection of old photographs that you’ve inherited?  Dennis Hoffman will teach a class at the Frankfort Community Public Library entitled “Publishing Your Family History” on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Lower Level Meeting Room.  After all the time and effort that you’ve spent doing research, solving mysteries, and organizing information, Hoffman will show you how to make all of that available to other family members and future researchers.  He will talk about defining your purpose and goals and discuss how to pick the best format to share your discoveries.  Hoffman will help you work through the process of turning an idea into a completed book that you’ll be proud to see on a library shelf.

A life-long Clinton County resident, Hoffman completed a BS in Social Studies and Secondary Education at Ball State and a Masters of Library Science at Indiana University.  When he moved into his great-grandmother’s house in 1978, he found a lifetime of her memories, newspaper clippings, and letters. He discovered that his passion for history could also include his own family.  The history of his family has been an addiction for forty years.  Dennis has self-published his transcription of Sherman Johnson’s Ledger and is in the process of publishing his mother’s journals.

The cost of the class is $2, and registration is required.  To register, call 765-654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar, or stop by the library.
