Rodney Hensley, Sr.

Rodney Hensley Sr., 82, of Michigantown, passed away peacefully at his residence, Saturday, May 23, 2020.  He was born January 12, 1938 in Legit, KY to Henry and Ruthie (Smith) Hensley.  He was a graduate of Hall High School, May  16, 1958.  He married Jacqueline Blanton on July 20, 1963.  She preceded him in death on December 6, 1995.  Rodney worked for 36 years in Quality Control at Federal Mogul until his retirement in August of 2000.  He was a member of Michigantown United Methodist Church.  He was a simple man, strong in his faith.  You always knew where you stood with him.  He enjoyed gardening, canning, and chair caning in his front yard and loved spending time with his family.

Rodney is survived by his sons, Rodney (Teresa) Hensley, Jr. and Russell (Cassandra Jewell) Hensley, Sr.; brothers, Sam (Wilma) Twinam, Frank (Ruby) Twinam and Willard Hensley; sisters, Pauline Harber, Willahmenia (Freddie) Ginter; grandchildren, Russell “Rusty” (Sierra Smith) Hensley, Jr., Jacqueline (Enoch) Ogbe, and Lydia Hensley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Esco and Harold Hensley; sisters, Morine Bargo and Mary Ruth Dilbeck.

Visitation will be held, Friday, May 29, 2020 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Michigantown United Methodist Church.  Pastor Mike Flowers will officiate.  Burial will follow at Whiteman Cemetery.  Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry at Michigantown United Methodist Church and St. Vincent Hospice.
