Stop The Waste: Recycle Solar Eclipse Glasses At Local Organizations For Further Use In South America

Community members and government officials in Clinton and Boone counties have dedicated themselves to collect solar eclipse glasses utilized for the April 8 solar eclipse to be reused by communities in other countries.

In Clinton County, Laura Mullen with Ruoff Mortgage has announced that she will be accepting recycled solar eclipse glasses through her office at 1700 E. Wabash St. in Frankfort through Monday, April 15. Community members are welcome to drop their solar eclipse glasses off with staff or place them inside the mailbox. According to Mullen, “glasses will be sent to kids in Latin America, so they can view their solar eclipse on October 2, 2024.”

The Town of Whitestown is also accepting solar eclipse glasses that will be donated for similar causes. Glasses may be delivered to the lobby of the Whitestown Municipal Complex at 6210 Veterans Dr. in Whitestown through Friday, April 12. According to the Town of Whitestown, “the donated glasses will be sent to another country who will be experiencing a solar eclipse soon.”
