The newest addition to Zionsville’s Town Hall is an 18-week-old, highly-trained Australian Labradoodle therapy dog who has yet to be named. The therapy dog was gifted to the town by a long-time resident of the area and will be available to all town employees and town hall guests as a means to boost morale across the town. She will also be present at local Zionsville events and celebrations, and she has been assigned to the Zionsville Parks Department.

The town staff has selected four Zionsville-centric names, and the community has been encouraged to weigh in to officially grant their newest hire a name.

Community members may express their vote in the comments of the Town of Zionsville – Government Facebook page.

The four names chosen are centered around Zionsville’s rich history, including “Polly,” “Dahlia,” “Maple” and “Willow.”

“Polly” is a refence to Polly Cross, who joined her husband Elijah to found the Town of Zionsville in 1852. “Dahlia” is a reference to Zionsville’s nickname of “Dahlia City” or “Dolly.” “Maple” is a reference to the streets and trees across the town, and “Willow” is also a reference to the streets and trees around time.

With almost 240 comments discussing her name, community members are weighing in heavily on what their new Chief Morale Officer will be named. Community members are encouraged to express their opinions and return to the Facebook page soon to learn the chosen name.
