United Way Funds ‘Changes’ Program at Healthy Communities of Clinton County

United Way has listened to its donors!  Donors were asked where they would like to see their United Way dollars used.  Their response made Mental Health one of the three main impact areas.  United Way has provided $65,000 to Healthy Communities to fund a care navigator and the Changes program.

Healthy Communities of Clinton County has built a relationship with Sycamore Springs to bring  much needed  same day services to Clinton County.  Finding ways to break down the barriers for families to receive mental health services is a priority of Healthy Communities and United Way for Clinton County.

Prior to this, Mental Health options in Clinton County have been pretty scarce.  Families have found they were having to wait two-three weeks to get an assessment completed or had to travel out of the county to receive help for their child.

This program provides youth with more “tools in their toolbelt” for handling their mental health needs.  No longer do families have to decide between school or mental health assistance as this program integrates both. HCCC will work with all schools in the county to assist in any referral process and help with transportation to get students to and from school to participate in the program.  In addition, through this grant, on-site mental health assessments will be provided at HCCC for any age!  We are excited for this program to come to Clinton County.
