War Dog Coming to Frankfort VFW Saturday

What is a war dog?

Dogs have been used for centuries to help petrol, rescue, comfort the wounded, search for bombs and hidden opposing troops and more.

A retired war dog is visiting the Frankfort VFW Saturday July 22 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  VFW will also be serving Pork Burgers and Pulled Pork to the public during this time.

4000 U.S. war dogs were used then euthanized during the Vietnam War but war dog euthanizing is no longer practiced in the United States.  Instead, war dogs are able to retire to a loving home.

War dogs receive a rank of E7 according to Hoppy Bray, Frankfort VFW (past) President.  The war dog handler often had a lower rank (E6) than the dog, making it strictly against regulations for the handler to mistreat the dog.
