The Clinton County Commissioners on Monday agreed to lower the speed limit in an area where a bridge will need to be reconstructed on County Road 950 West.
“It was discussed that such a tight area there where there’s a lot of curves right around the bridge that to reconstruct that bridge at 40 mile-an-hour versus a 55-mile-an-hour would make a big difference in the type of structure we have to have,” said Clinton County Highway Superintendent Kevin Myers. “By lowering the speed limit, it’s going to save the county a lot of money.”
Myers said the speed limit reduction would be just for that 1500 feet of road near the bridge.
The Commissioners heard a presentation from JETS Services on animal control for the county.
“JETS Animal Services had a proposal for us for animal control in Clinton County,” said Commissioners President Josh Uitts. “We asked them to come and present that in front of the board. We heard what they had to say and we’ll be reviewing that and hopefully, we’ll get something worked out here or have some kind of idea here how we’re going to move forward here in Clinton County with animal control.”
JETS President Kim Harris told the board to just give them a chance to show what they can do.
“The animal control and TNR problem is all over,” said Harris. “All we’re doing is asking for a chance.”
Uitts added it will probably be the middle of the year before a decision is made regarding animal control.
