Suncrest Elementary School in Frankfort is having a 5k Dog Jog and Fun Run on Friday, May 3, at 5 p.m. Carnival games and good trucks will be a part of this event. Individuals need to let them know if they are in need of an entry form. To register, https://suncrestdogjob.itsyourrace.com.

The Girl Scouts of Clinton County is having a Food Drive on Saturday, May 4 at several drop off locations and times. Those locations are Trinity Church in Mulberry (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.); Cornerstone Assembly of God, Mulberry/Jefferson (10 a.m. to noon); The Farmers Bank in Kirklin (10 a.m. to noon); Buler Foods in Frankfort (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.); Colfax Methodist Church (10 a.m. to noon); Arni’s Pizza in Rossville (noon to 2 p.m.); Schulz IGA in Frankfort (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Frankfort High School Parking Lot (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Cash donations will be accepted.

The City of Frankfort Street Department is having is Operation Spring Clean Up, a week-long event offering residents the opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items. Residents must show identification at the gate upon arrival at the Street Department, 905 Burlington Avenue. The clean-up will take place from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and conclude on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 7650659-2912.

Beard Masonic Lodge 641 is having its Annual Spring Fish Fry on Saturday, May 4, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge. Tickets are $15 for adults at the door or in advance, children ages 6-12 are $10 at the door or in advance and those 5-and-under eat free. Carry outs available. Tickets available from all Masonic Lodge members or at the door.

The Farmers Bank is holding Free Shred Days from 9-11 a.m. at the following locations: Frankfort (May 4). Kirklin (June 15), Mulberry (July 20), Lebanon (August 10), Sheridan (August 24), Michigantown (September 14) and Frankfort (October 5). There is a maximum limit of five standard boxes/paper bags per vehicle.

The City of Delphi has released its Spring Cleanup date for Saturday, May 4. The spring cleanup will begin around6 a.m. and community members are encouraged to ensure that the trash to be picked up must be set out by the curb by that time as TK Trash Kans will not return to service the residence after the first pickup. A free fun family event called Heroes of Hope will be held Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. There will be free health screenings, family pictures, safety items, haircuts, socks, underwear, hygiene items, lead testing, an immunization nurse, a bounce house, and pictures with Super Heroes. The Union Baptist Church located at 8280 E. County Road 800 North in Forest is having a Lasagna Supper on Saturday, May 4 from 5-7 p.m. Menu will consist of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and dessert. This ia a free-will offering event and individuals can dine-in or carryout.

The Frankfort Community Public Library will host the annual Psi Iota Xi Student Art Show through May 5 in the Anna and Harlan Hubbard Art Gallery, This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Lori Brubaker at [email protected].

The Witham Volunteer Organization Annual Spring Flower Sale will be held Wednesday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or while supplies last at Witham Health Services Main Entrance, 2605 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Individuals can choose from an assortment of geraniums, begonias or a combination of hanging baskets and planters. Debit/credit card, cash and local check will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Witham Volunteer Organization Scholarship Program and various Fund the Need initiatives for Witham Health Services.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, Applebee’s is donating 15 percent of your check to Frankfort Education Foundation and Teacher Grant Fund on Thursday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to close at 2432 E. Wabash St., Frankfort.

Music on the Plaza and Car Cruise In will be held Friday, May 10, from 6-8 p.m. in downtown Lebanon. Music will be by the Bailistics. This second Friday event is sponsored by Milestone.

The Poetry Society of Indiana will be hosting an Open mic at Gem City Junction, 63 E. Clinton St., in downtown Frankfort from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10. There is one more Open mic scheduled on Friday, June 14.

The Frankfort Community Public Library has announced its slate of  Hoosier Storytellers. Dates include Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m., Red Barn Summer Theatre creative director Michael Taylor will bring along some guests; Saturday, July 27, at 1 p.m., the Frankfort Hot Dog Hall of Fame returns to the library; and Thursday, October 17, at 6 p.m., Through the Lens: Jim Ostler’s Frankfort 1960-1964.

Spring is in the air at the Frankfort Community Public Library as the Barns & Blooms exhibitions and special programming is scheduled for May 10 through May 30, coinciding with the Friends of the Frankfort Public Library’s Annual Meeting. The Michigantown Police Department has announced that the town Clean-Up Day is slated for May 11 throughout the town. Community members in the Michigantown area are encouraged to leave their items for clean-up at the curbside the night before May 11 to ensure Waste Management will pick them up on their route.

The Clinton County Democrats Big Dem Community Breakfast will be held Saturday, May 18, from 8-11 a.m. at the Mulberry Centennial Park, 407 Park St., Mulberry. The event is sponsored by Big Country BBQ and CCDCC.

Tickets are available for the two remaining concerts of Friends of the Library 2024 Concert Series to be held in Skanta Theatre at the Frankfort Community Public Library. Performers will be Davis & Devitt (May 18) and the Boogie Woogie Kid (October 19). All concerts are on Saturday night and start at 7:30 p.m. Individual concert tickets are $12 and season tickets are $30. Begin preserving those memories for future generation at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, May 18, by joining them for a scanning event brought to you by Vivid Pix. The event will lick off with a webinar entitled “Printed Photo Organizing Made Easy” at 9 a.m. A second Preserve Your Family History webinar will begin at 1 p.m. followed by an additional scanning sessions. United Way will be administering the Summer Food Program starting May 28 through August 2. In addition to adding new stops, they would like individuals or organizations would like to be a part of these program, they can call 765-654-5573.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Carroll County Wabash and Erie Canal and its mission to preserve, educate and have while doing so. Patrons are invited to visit the park for an Indiana history experience every Saturday afternoon 1-4 p.m. from May 25 through September 14. During Canal Season, there is plenty to see and do, and it is a delightful time for all ages,

The Michigantown Lions Club has announced their Memorial Day plans to be held on Monday, May 27, in memory Linda Rule Barnett. Breakfast will be held at the Michigantown Lions Club and will be served from 7:30-9 a.m. and the menu includes pancakes, sausage, biscuits, homemade sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee. This is an all-you-can-eat event with donations accepted. Veterans are complimentary. The Memorial Day Program starts at 9 a.m. at the Kirklin American Legion. Music will be provided by the Fun Time Band and Randy Jenkins, Children’s Memorials will be done by the Myers Children and the speaker will be Ron Trees. There will be taps and gun salute and the release of doves in memorial of those loved and lost.

The following is a list for Indiana County Fairs in and around Clinton County for 2024: Miami (June 24-29), Howard (July 8-13), Tipton (July 10-14), Montgomery (July 12-17), Clinton (July 13-20), Carroll (July 13-20), Hendricks (July 14-20), Hamilton (July 18-22), Tippecanoe (July 19-27) and Boone (July 20-26).

The 50th Annual Mid-America Threshing & Antique Inc. Show will take place August 8-11 at the Tipton County 4-H Fairgrounds, 1200 S. Main St (State Road 19) in Tipton. They will raffling off a John Deere Tractor (1951 John Deere MT) at the show on Saturday evening. Tickets are $10 for one or $20 for three. There is a $5 charge for parking and a ton of show attractions. You can also camp on the fairgrounds for $30/night or $200/week.  Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the Fairgrounds.
