Mulberry Residents Encouraged To Weigh In On Dayton Community Garden

A councilmember for the Town of Dayton has requested feedback from the Mulberry community as talks of creating a community garden are in the works for Dayton, and Mulberry residents may be able to utilize the garden if it comes to fruition.

Town of Dayton councilmember Leah Owen announced that she is working with Master Gardens to bring a community garden into Dayton, and she asked Mulberry residents whether they would see themselves utilizing the garden if it becomes a reality.

Residents highlighted the Mulberry United Methodist Church community garden, but other residents expressed interest in access to two different community gardens in the area.

“I’m wanting to know if this is something your town would like to have and utilize,” Owen wrote. “Trying to get a head count so that I know where to start size-wise. I think it would be great to get to know our neighboring town.”

Owen confirmed that the proposed community garden would be a space where individual families can have a small plot to grow produce and flowers, and she confirmed that the garden would be in Dayton but would provide an opportunity for Mulberry residents as well.
