Zionsville Police Release Information Regarding Zionsville Camera Registry Program

The Zionsville Police Department has released further information regarding its camera registry that is designed as a groundbreaking initiative to enhance crime-fighting and investigative efforts in the town.

The camera registry program enables businesses and individuals to register their security cameras to create a vast network of resources for investigators. Businesses and private citizens may register their security cameras at the department at Getting Started.

Law enforcement will not have access to cameras. The registry is designed to allow the department to see the availability of the cameras in the town, which allows for officers to request camera footage from the owner if a crime occurs in the area. Those partnered through the registry do not have a legal obligation to provide the camera footage upon request.

The system is designed to help law enforcement quickly gather evidence and track suspects to increase the chances of solving crimes swiftly.

“Crimes often happen in the shadows,” the department released. “The Zionsville Police Department Camera Registry provides a crucial tool for law enforcement to gather evidence and track perpetrators, leading to more efficient investigations and enhanced public safety.”
