The adult female and 14-year-old boy injured in Monday morning’s fire on Rossville Avenue have been released from the hospital, while the remaining fire victim, a five-year-old boy is still being treated at Riley Hospital, Frankfort Fire Chief John Kirby announced Friday.An account has been established at Lafayette Bank & Trust and First Merchants Bank to accept monetary contributions for anyone wishing to help the Trail family. Everyone interested in making a financial donation can visit any Lafayette Bank & Trust or First Merchants Bank branch.
Those donating can be listed with their names or be included anonymously, depending on their preference. Checks should be made payable to either Lafayette Bank & Trust or Merchants Bank with “Trail Family” put on the memo line of the check. Frankfort’s Lafayette Bank & Trust branch is located at 60 South Main Street and is open Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – noon.
“Through the community’s generosity, the family has been overwhelmed with donations of household and clothing items but has requested everyone hold off on making additional contributions of this type right now. Monetary contributions are most helpful to assist the family in the long-term as they recover and get re-established in a new place.
“The family appreciates all the donations made and expressed their gratitude to the Center Township Trustee’s Office as well as the Clinton County chapter of the American Red Cross for their assistance during this very difficult time,” Kirby said.
Frankfort fire investigators are working in tandem with representatives from the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and insurance fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire, with the investigation scheduled to be completed sometime next week.
