The National Weather Service in Indianapolis continues to say that a wintry mix will be likely Friday night and early Saturday along and northeast of a Covington to Rushville line.
This weather will impact Clinton County and along with the counties of Boone, Carroll, Delaware, Fountain, Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Howard, Madison, Marion, Randolph and Rush. Besides Frankfort, cities affected are Anderson, Crawfordsville, Indianapolis, Kokomo, Lafayette and Muncie.
Low pressure over the central plains will move into the middle Mississippi Valley Friday and across the Ohio Valley by Saturday. Models indicate colder air will spread south into Indiana as the low pressure passes by Friday night and early Saturday. Temperatures will be cold enough to produce an area of light freezing rain. Ice accumulations of 0.10 to 0.15 inches are possible. At this time, it is expected that most of any ice accumulation to occur on trees and grassy areas. But it could occur as well on untreated roads in colder areas. In the far northeast sections near Kokomo and Muncie a period of light snow is also possible.
Persons should listen to later statements and forecasts from the National Weather Service.
