Four additional Republican leaders representing parts of the 4th Congressional District have announced they will be supporting Conservative Businessman Steve Braun in his race for Congress. Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes, State Representative Heath Van Natter, Kokomo Councilman Tom Miklik, and State Senator Rick Niemeyer endorsed Braun’s campaign thirteen days ahead of the May 8th Primary.
“The endorsements reflect the positive response our message is generating across the district in these final days,” Braun said. “I’m running for Congress to deliver conservative solutions that help President Trump put America First. In Washington, I’ll fight to create and protect jobs, protect the right to life, defend the second amendment, and secure the border by building the wall.”
With today’s announcement, Braun has been endorsed by twenty-two Republican business, legislative, and community leaders across the 4th District, in addition to the Indiana Right to Life and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
“Steve is a leader, a family man, and a man of faith. He will take our Hoosier conservative values to Washington, D.C. as he represents us as our next Congressman,” said Mayor Chris McBarnes. “He’s the leader we can trust to stand right beside President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence as they work to put America First.”
“Steve Braun has the background, experience, and track record we can count on to advance conservative solutions in Washington,” said VanNatter. “His leadership in the state legislature and 25 years of private sector experience, which includes building a business from scratch and creating hundreds of jobs, will serve the 4th District well in Congress.”
Braun has spent his career focused on helping employers and employees, creating good paying jobs, and advising some of the largest companies in America.
In 1990 Steve launched Braun Technology Group, a hi-tech consulting company that he grew to more than 700 employees. During one successful term in the Indiana House of Representatives, Steve led the fight for an honestly balanced budget without raising taxes and helped eliminate the Estate Tax. Having co-authored bills that modernized Indiana’s workforce development efforts, in 2014, then-Gov. Pence named Steve Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development.
Under his leadership, Steve led an effort to identify and eliminate fraud in the unemployment system, ultimately saving taxpayers $200 million. Under Steve’s direction, Indiana reduced its rate of veteran unemployment from one of the highest in the nation to the lowest in the nation at under 2%.
Steve and his wife of 35 years, Jennifer, have lived in Boone County for more than twenty years. They have five grown children and four grandchildren. Steve is also an early supporter of the Oaks Academy school which provides a Christ-centered education to inner city youth.
