Walmart is doing what they can to help out during this pandemic and change shortage, They have 6 self check out lanes for Debit/credit cards only, The regular check out lanes take cash or debit/credit for transactions.

Shell Gas Station says they see no problems at this time. Same being said by Murphy USA gas station and Village Pantry, although Village Pantry fears it may be coming.

Goodwill manager, Mike Cline says no affect yet and little concern at this time.

Rumors on Facebook stating this past week that Speedway went cashless are completely false. They did however go cashless for a few hours during the power outage due to not being able to get into the safe for change.

Schulz IGA is doing fine according to Judy Lashbrook they are still able to order change at this time although limited as to how much they can order.

Kelli Milligan Asst manager at First Merchants Bank Frankfort says There is a slight coin shortage as they are not getting the change order they put in for.

Milligan says the coin shortage stems from COVID and the banks being closed for a period of time as to which customers were not bringing in change on a regular basis like normal. The drive up windows do not accept change.

The way you as a community can help is to take in your saved change to the banks, First Merchants has waived the 10% fee charged for non members at this time. Another way to help is when you make a purchase at any business and your bill comes to say a hypothetical amount $2.50, Dig out that fifty cents and give instead of $3.00 or even amount. try to help out that way.
