The Clinton County Commissioners are basically back to square one when it comes to its nepotism policy.

After tabling the expected second reading on August 22, the Commissioners elected not to bring it off the table or even discuss the matter at its Wednesday morning.

“It’s on the table but technically it’s off the table since we didn’t address it at the meeting,” said Commissioners President Jordan Brewer. “It could always be brought back up if the legal advise I received is correct for another first reading.”

Brewer was also asked if he thought it would be brought back up during the remainder of the year.

“It’s day by day,” said Brewer.

In other news, Forest resident Andy Robertson brought up information on cemeteries in Clinton County that could be used if the Commissioners decide to go ahead with the proposed cemetery board brought up by Commissioner Josh Uitts at the last meeting.

The Commissioners agreed to let the Frankfort Police Department SWAT team use the former Regions Bank building for a training exercise before they begin demolition of the building. The police had contacted Commissioner Bert Weaver about the possible use of the bank. Weaver brought up the idea during the Commissioner reports.

Also, the September 19 Commissioners meeting was cancelled at Wednesday’s meeting. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday, October 4, at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners meeting room.
