Red Barn Summer Theatre Starts Second Offering Of Season

Sunday evening the stage at the Red Barn Theatre changed from “The Amorous Ambassador” setting to a new look, this time fitting the award-winning play by Herb Gardner “A Thousand Clowns”

“A Thousand Clowns” is a Broadway comedy that produced one of theatre’s most beloved roles: Murray Burns.  Murray is a non-conformist bachelor who is endeavoring to rear his precocious nephew.  Murray is weary of writing comedy for bad children’s television and grateful when he finds himself unemployed.

“A Thousand Clowns” takes to the Red Barn Stage June 26-30 and July 3-7 (no performance on July 4th)

Murray takes to unemployment like a duck to water and enjoys his life without the rat race.  But when social services come to visit and wants to ensure that his nephew is receiving a proper upbringing, Murray is forced to choose between going back to work or losing his nephew.  The character of Murray Burns remains one of the funniest, most curmudgeonly roles ever written for the stage.  The on-stage performance is sponsored by Encompass Credit Union, Wesley Manor and Ivy Tech Community College.

Frankfort’s own Eli Grasham will be on the professional stage for his first time ever.  Eli’s role in A Thousand Clowns will be Murray’s nephew.  Eli is 12 years old and entering 8th grade, according to Michael Taylor, Red Barn Artistic Director.

A Thousand Clowns will take to the stage June 26-30 and July 3-7 (no performance on July 4th). Evening performances Monday-Saturday start at 8PM.  Sunday performance starts at 2 pm.

Saturday June 29th is Student Night.  All Students High School or younger get in for only $5.00. Class of 2019 High School Graduates and all younger students qualify for this one night only $5.00 Student Night Special.  Performance starts at 8PM.

Red Barn Adult admission is $20.00 per performance. Season tickets are $54.00. Regular student admissions including college students 23 years old or younger are only $14.00.
