Ribbon Cutting Held for New Creekside Music Store

Creekside Music owner Fred Myers cuts the ribbon to officially open his new business in downtown Frankfort as friends and local officials look on.

Fred Myers said it’s always been a lifelong dream of his to be a musician and have his own place of business where he can service a community like Frankfort. All of that is now in place following the ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday morning on his new business called Creekside Music located at 259 East Clinton Street in downtown Frankfort in between Old Stoney and Ivy Tech Community College.

“We’re not Guitar Center and we’re not a big huge place,” said Myers. “We’re striving for an intimate situation where musicians can come and talk about their instruments, get their instruments worked on, get the supplies they need and just hang out.”

Myers said there’s not a lot of things in Frankfort for musicians’ needs such as support strings, picks, straps, pedals, tuners and things that guitarists go through regularly.

“They always have to drive a pretty far distance to get the stuff they need,” said Myers.

One of the amenities of Creekside Music is not even located inside the building. It’s on the outside.

“The patio turned out really nice,” said Myers. “We’ve got a nice view of Old Stoney, we’re going to have some intimate little venues, acoustic nights and things of that nature.”

Myers said the store will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m to 5 or 6 p.m., 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday and closed on Sunday.
