Three People Dead from Plane Crash North of Rossville

WLFI is reporting three people are dead following Thursday night’s plane crash in southern Carroll County about three miles north of Rossville.

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby has confirmed three people died in the crash including prominent Wisconsin dairy farmer John Pagel and his son-in-law Steve Witcpalek. They have been the only two formally identified by investigators. Green Bay CBS affiliate WFRV said the pilot was Nathan Saari, according to a statement from the family.

The plane, which was a Cessna 441 Conquest Turnoprop headed for Green Bay, Wisconsin, crashed near the intersection of county roads 600 South and 500 West, which is in a rural area with communications hampered by the remoteness. Investigators used a drone from the Wayne Township Fire Department to help survey the crash debris. Recent heavy rains had made the crash site extremely muddy and hard for investigators to navigate.

Indiana State Police are still investigating the scene and have yet to confirm the third victim’s name.
