Tipton County Head Start Enrollment Set for May 11

Head Start officials want Tipton County parents to know that Head Start enrollment will be conducted Friday, May 11th as part of the Head Start Health & Enrollment Fair at the Darrough Chapel Early Learning Center (900 S. Goyer Road, Kokomo, IN). Full-day preschool openings are available for the 2018-2019 school year for eligible Tipton County preschool age children, 3 and 4 years old (before August 1, 2018). The Head Start program accepts income eligible children and families. Transportation services are provided.

Head Start Director Julie Worland reminds Tipton County parents and/or guardians that the “Head Start Advantage” includes full-day classes, transportation, meals (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack), a unique Fatherhood program, assistance with medical and dental needs, a personal family advocate, parent and family engagement programming, and a research-based curriculum.

This high-quality Head Start education, where kindergarten readiness skills are a priority, features a highly-qualified staff (all Head Start teachers have at least a Bachelor’s Degree).

During the Health & Enrollment Fair May 11th at Darrough Chapel, returning students should make appointments now for between 9 am to Noon to qualify for a FREE required physical exam and required dental exams. Head Start officials will be available to help complete paperwork for the 2018-2019 school year.

New Head Start students and families, as well as the public, are welcome to the Health & Enrollment Fair at Darrough Chapel from 11:30 am to 2 pm May 11th. New students can complete the necessary paperwork for the 2018-2019 school year, while taking advantage of FREE physical exams and required dental exams.

Head Start officials remind Tipton County parents and/or guardians that the following documents are needed to complete the application process: Proof of Income (current tax return / paycheck stubs within past 30 days); child’s birth certificate; child’s up-to-date shot record; parent and/or guardian photo ID; Medicaid or other insurance card; Wic & Snap numbers, if applicable; and proof of lead & hemoglobin screens.
