Two Individuals Air Lifted to Indianapolis Hospitals After Two Vehicle Crash

At approximately 3:37 p.m. Thursday, Clinton County Central Dispatch received 911 calls for a two vehicle personal injury crash, with ejection, at County Road 700 N and County Road 200 E.

Preliminary investigation from Deputies on scene determined that V1, a Red 2000 Chevy Silverado, operated by Patrick Brandenburg, 23, of Frankfort, was traveling southbound on County Road 200 E. Brandenburg disregarded the stop sign and struck V2, a Blue 2008 Pontiac, operated by Chelsey Smith, 30, of Kokomo. Smith was traveling westbound on County Road 700 N. Smith had a passenger, Charity Wooten, 20, residence unknown.

Brandenburg was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. Wooten was reported to be in the process of putting on a sweatshirt at the time of the crash and was also not wearing a seatbelt. Brandenburg and Wooten were both air lifted from the scene to Indianapolis hospitals, their conditions unknown.

Sheriff Rich Kelly said, “Several weeks ago, I directed Deputies to work the detour area of County Road 700N, when available and not on other calls for service. The men and women of the Sheriff’s Office have been working hard patrolling our community. At the end of the day, we cannot be everywhere. We need citizens, and those passing through, to SLOW DOWN, obey traffic control devices, such as stop signs and signals, and drive with due regard for other motorists on our roadways! Our Chaplains will continue to be made available to our Deputies and other First Responders who may need them. Please stay Safe!”
