Indiana State Police – Lafayette District Announces 2025 Trooper of the District

Trooper Devin Farmer was presented the 2025 District 14 Trooper of the District award by Superintendent Anthony Scott at the Indiana State Police Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 21.

Trooper Farmer has served with the Indiana State Police since 2016, following his graduation from the 76th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. In 2021, he was selected as a K9 handler and currently serves with his partner, K9 Bo.

Throughout 2025, Trooper Farmer demonstrated exceptional initiative and productivity while operating on a flexible schedule designed to maximize K9 deployment across all shifts. During the year, he conducted 955 traffic stops, resulting in over 1,100 enforcement actions, and made 107 criminal arrests, including 10 OWI arrests.

In addition to proactive enforcement, Trooper Farmer responded to 742 calls for service, investigated 37 crashes, and conducted 59 K9 deployments, frequently assisting allied law enforcement agencies across the district and beyond.

Trooper Farmer is MCSAP Level III certified and routinely conducts commercial vehicle inspections. He also serves as an Emergency Vehicle Operations instructor and has contributed to both academy and field training efforts. In addition, he has served as a Field Training Officer, helping guide and develop new troopers.

Beyond enforcement and training responsibilities, Trooper Farmer remains actively engaged in community outreach, participating in public events and demonstrations alongside his K9 partner to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Trooper Farmer consistently maintains a high standard of professionalism, preparedness, and physical fitness. He is widely respected as a leader among his peers and is known for his dedication, positive attitude, and commitment to service.
