Clinton County EMA Issues Update on COVID-19 Situation

Clinton County Emergency Management Agency Director Darrell Sanders released the following statement Monday afternoon.

“The Clinton County Emergency Management, Clinton County Commissioners and Frankfort Mayor Judith Sheets are working together to keep residents informed and updated.  We will continue to work in close cooperation for the good of our community, health care personnel and first responders.

As stated in our press release issued Saturday, March 21, 2020, the ESF (Emergency Support Function) for Communications as well as Health and Medical were activated.  We are issuing the following updates:

The Clinton County Health Department is working with a private laboratory to provide ADDITIONAL COVID-19 testing to the county residents. This would be in addition to the COVID testing that has already been available with certain criteria attached to it. To clarify, this is in addition to the testing already available through the State Labs and will be funded by the County Health Department initially. This is to augment current testing availability and provide more testing to our county; persons tested would still need to meet certain criteria set forth by the County Health Officer in order to be tested.

The Communications ESF will be using a platform called Nixle that is already utilized for sending mass texts and emails to our community.  We strongly urge everyone to sign up for the free service to stay informed  of our updates.

People can create an account by going to www.nixle.com.  You can also text your zip code to 888-777 to opt in.  There is also an app you can download called Everbridge which will receive all Nixle alerts that are sent.

At this time, Clinton County does not have any travel restrictions in place however we strongly encourage people to do their part by only conducting essential travel as needed.”
