Clinton County Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS) has been awarded the ALS (Advanced Life Support) Provider of the Year (Non-Fire Based) by the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association. The honor, presented Friday, September 19 in Noblesville, recognizes CCEMS for its exceptional professionalism, innovation, and commitment to patient-centered care.

In recent years, CCEMS has transformed what emergency medical response looks like in a rural community. From pioneering the use of handheld lab testing devices and patient communication technology, to launching Indiana’s first EMS body-worn camera program, to expanding paramedic staffing and education opportunities, the agency continues to set the bar for excellence. These advancements ensure that residents receive hospital-level interventions right in their homes and on the roadside when emergencies strike.

“This award is the result of a 15-year journey to make Clinton County EMS the very best it can be,” said Alan Dunn, President of the Clinton County Council. “To see the growth and development of this program, from basic EMT level medical response, to one that is now recognized for its elite, advanced paramedic level care and cutting edge technology, is such a rewarding feeling.”

Steven Deckard, Director of Clinton County EMS, credited his team for the award. “This honor belongs to the men and women who show up every day ready to give their very best. Their skill, compassion, and commitment to growth are what make Clinton County EMS truly special. I’m proud of all they’ve accomplished and excited for what’s still ahead.”

Clinton County EMS serves the county’s 35,000 residents with four advanced life support ambulances, a chase paramedic, and a highly trained team of EMTs and paramedics. Beyond responding to emergencies, the agency invests in public education, CPR and overdose response training, and partnerships that strengthen rural access to advanced medical care.
