Community Schools of Frankfort Superintendent Don DeWeese said they did have 108 high school students that participated in the walk-out Wednesday morning. They quietly stood around the flag pole until 10:13 when they held hands and made one large circle around the flag pole and one student spoke about her hope for positive change to a more peaceful society.
At Frankfort Middle School, DeWeese said they had approximately 100 students participate in the walk out. They stood quietly outside the front doors of the middle school until 10:17 when they returned to class.
This was part of a nationwide walkout to mark the one-month anniversary of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The walkout lasted 17 minutes — one minute for each person murdered in the massacre at the high school.
