Identity of Man Killed in Whitestown Crash Released

At approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday, officers from the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to Interstate 65 at the 131-mile marker southbound on a vehicle stalled in the far right lane.

As officers were responding, dispatchers received another call stating the stalled vehicle had been struck by another vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a 4-door sedan still in the middle of the interstate with a male trapped inside unresponsive.

Officers were able to extricate the driver, and begin CPR. Whitestown Fire Department/EMS personnel and Zionsville Fire Department/EMS personnel tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the driver, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Abdoul Barry, 20, of Indianapolis, was identified as the person who died at the scene by medical personnel. The driver of the second vehicle was a male, driving a 1999 Toyota 4-runner. He was identified as Eric Carlson, 32. He was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis hospital following the accident. He was treated and released for minor injuries.

The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is currently investigating the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time.
