
The bridge, which causes Sugar Creek in northwestern Boone County, was damaged when a CAT farm tractor towing a chisel plow struck the bridge and caused damage to the structure. At that time, an investigation was started to find who had caused the extensive structural damage. Boone County Highway officials came to the scene and determined that the damage was severe enough to close the bridge.
The iron bridge had been recently refurbished and restored to keep its unique and historic look. The bridge is listed as a historical bridge under the Indiana Historical Bridge Inventory. Many area residents had also donated funding to the restoration. With the closing of the bridge, it has caused people in the are a great inconvenience going to and from work, travelling the area and school bus routes.
